Hard rock

This piece is made from plate stainless steel and welded to give the effect of fluid motion. It is set in a cut lava rock and poured out onto a blue gum base. It is one of the “Metal in motion” series of works.

The inspiration is water and manipulating stainless steel to replicate this movement is easier said than done. Each aspect of this from the slicing of the lava rock to the engraving of ripples into the pool has taken hours of effort and polishing to achieve this outcome. This one is a conversation starter. One comment received has been “my brain can’t actually understand how the pouring goes so seamlessly into the pool, the ripples are unbelievable.” If you love this art and would like it in your life contact us for pricing. This is an original piece from The Metalist made for the right place in the world in 2023.
