Gam’mama in flight

The dragonfly (gam’mama) has hundreds of species all around the world. They are a true indicator of a healthy ecosystem. This beautiful specimen is in full flight. Dragonflies are renowned for their exceptional flying abilities, making them some of the most agile and versatile fliers in the insect world. They can move in any direction, including forward, backward, upward, downward, and sideways, and even hover mid-air.

This sculpture was hand forged from scrap stainless steel. Kitchen sinks, pipe and tubing off-cuts, pots, pans and even a bit of old beer keg! Re-purposing materials is a wonderful way to give waste a second life and celebrate our wildlife!
